This is the 2 centimeter flat polished edge, the least expensive edge detail available from most fabricators. Since 2 centimeter stone needs a plywood backing to rest on, some effort must be made to conceal the plywood underneath the slab. Here, the homeowner has chose to create an apron to conceal the plywood backing board, and tiled the apron with 5/8-inch travertine mosaic. Another option is to use a wood trim piece, or to recess the plywood backing into the top of the cabinets, so it appears that the slab rests flush on top of the cabinetry.
